Rare 40s-50s Black Wool Athletic Shorts Sports Rockabilly Pleated Small Belt Loop Outer Seam Stitch High Waist by Tiger's
These very special and very well made wool shorts could be for track, field hockey or soccer, as I am not sure how many sports women participated in the 40s . The fabric is a VERY deep black, and extremely difficult to photograph, so please excuse the heavy retouching. It is not to disguise any flaws, just wrinkles and where the camera had trouble rendering a solid black. The very small belt loops and label are why I am classifying these in the 40s. ..but I could be off a few years. There are no holes, tears, fade, snags, or flaws other than a dime sized hole at the junction of all 4 crotch seams, that I will fix before sending. Nice deep pockets, also in perfect condition. I love the outer leg over stitching detail. These could have been longer, and look like they may have been re-hemmed. The label says they are for "Fitness", I did not think they were shortened. I have now changed my mind, and I think they COULD have been longer, at one point, and have been shortened, as the hem is not original, and roughly done. They have been stored in the dark, so no fade.
They close on the side with a metal zipper and button. The Talon zipper may have been replaced an earlier zipper, or even buttons, as the stitching on the zipper looks somewhat different, and the fabric is not finished, on the inside, where buttons could have previously been. at some point. There are FOUR pleats in the front. , two side pockets. Price is based on rarity and condition.
