40s Navy Blue Knit Dress
Absolutely stunning navy blue knit dress from the 1940s. Padded shoulders, 3/4 sleeves, slightly blousey top. Feels like a rayon yarn perhaps. Not wool, and a but too shiny to be cotton, might even be silk or a silk blend. There are swe3at guards in the armpits I'd remove them personally, but I'll leave that up to you.
Perfect for fall weather. And that glorious color. Zipper at the back of the neck. I'd say sized.
Excellent to great vintage condition. There are some scattered pea size moth holes, and a couple mediocre attempts at repairing these. But with some careful stitching these could be fixed and this would be nearly perfect. See photos for examples.
Measurements when lying flat. Doubled at waist and hip.
This is a knit so there is some give to these.
Armpit to armpit across bust: 34" at rest up to about 52"
Waist: 24" up to about 28" as is BUT there is elastic cord in the waist that it tied in a knot with lots of extra cord...loosen that to re-tie where needed and you can get several more inches
Hips: 34" up to about 56"
Shoulder to waist: 19"
Shoulder to bottom hem: 53"
