This is a 1980s does the 1940s Sailor dress. Many 1940s looks were remade in the 80s and this was certainly a popular one with its navy inspired trim and Star patches and the simple early 40s silhouette with the pleated skirt and cropped jacket.
This 40s style sailor outfit and those like it were all the rage in the early 40s as ladies were dressing in support of the men (and women) going off to war. This particular look is a Navy inspired dress with jacket with the buttons, trim and stars giving it a lovely nautical look.
The garment is in good shape. There is a little fraying on parts of the edges on some of the trim (as pictured). There are no stains, holes, rips tears, etc.
The jacket ties at the bust and the tops of the sleeves are gathered at the shoulder seam creating a slight puff.
This is made in a polyester that may have spandex mix but we aren’t sure. The textile is inline with what was being produced during this time in the 1980s.
No size tag but it measures out right between a size modern 8 and 10.
