40s Forstmann Dolman Sleeve Wool Black and White Check Jacket

This fantastic high quality vintage wool jacket from the 1940s or 1950s. There is label by Forstmann, the supplier of the wool (90%) and rabbit hair (10%) that the coat is made of.

Extensive and elaborate sleeve and other tailoring of the collar make this jacket very special. All the buttons are plastic and vintage, The jacket came without buttons when I rescued it, so I used my vintage button collection to find suitable buttons. The sleeves are Dolman style, and the cuffs are very detailed, with buttons, and notched black cuffs. The black lining is a gorgeous black silk crepe. This is a truly amazing vintage jacket in great condition. A few flaws include one small hole the size of a pin head, and some wear on the inside edge of each sleeve....probably from bracelets that had charms or other catchy things. Attaching a thin black strip of black bias binding would preserve the sleeve from further damage. A wonderful coat for any vintage clothing fan or to use in play or as part of an authenticate vintage costume. Coat is in excellent pre owned condition with no rips, stains nor odors.
