Finds like this happen so seldom! The original tag from Penny's is still attached to this magnificent soft ivory wool dress. This beautifully tailored dress has a collar that can be worn down or up, there are two ample side pockets in the skirt. The top has shoulder pads and "bat" wing short cuffed sleeves.
A metal zipper goes up the back, with a hook at the top. There is a full length pleat in the front, and there is an extra inch in the skirt hem for lengthening. The chest is decorated with BLACK floral motif embroidery, and each petal has a rheinstone. Each flower has a dangling tear-shaped pearl.
The photos really do not do this incredible dress any justice!
The original label says this is a size 13, but of course we all know those sizes have the modern equivilence of a size 6-8...who knows, as they keep changing! So here are the measurements:

hips: 42"
Skirt length: 31. 5"
Top length: 15. 5
Bust; ( hard to measure because of cut....) 36"
I have used photoshop to digitally "iron" parts of the full length photos, so you can get an impression of the dress, rather than a mere record of its condition, because the condition is near perfect. In the close up photo of the black enbriodery, dangling pearl, and set rheinstones, you can barely make out a dark thread that somehow made it into the dress. the only other flaw is that the belt ( see picture) is dried out, and the leather backing is stiff, and has cracked in places. A pressing could be the answer.
