40s/50s Vintage 40s Black Velvet Embellished Top | M-l
This top is so special: I am in love with the very unusual geometric neckline, and the way the ornamentation actually dangles. Made by Claudia Young in the late 1940s (possibly early 1950s) this was originally a wiggle dress, but some previous owner along the way converted it into a top by removing the bottom. Any time black velvet is involved, I'm so here for it, and the pearl and crystal embellishment makes this feel super regal. Comes with a satin sash tie at the waist.
Measurements: This will work best on closer to a size Large; Shown unpinned on a size Small but it's too big, notably in the chest area. Quite honestly though you can get away with wearing it a bit oversized (as shown).

Waist: 30.5"
Opening at bottom: 39"
Length: 23.5" from shoulder to hem
There have been some minor repairs made to fabric/seams over the years but because of the black color/pile of the velvet, they are not noticeable and don't detract from the beauty of the shape. The embellishments are in tact but a few of the pearls are a bit tarnished. Again, it's still in beautiful (and perfectly wearable) condition.
