50s/60s Black Gold Glass Brooch In Fabulous Mcm Style

50s/60s Black Gold Glass Brooch In Fabulous Mcm Style

You just have to love an all-black brooch. It remains itself no matter what ... even while the facets of the glass reflect whatever's around it. This is one of those marvelous creations, and it has a terrific dimensionality. The basic outline is almost a Maltese cross (very popular midcentury), but the black glass "stones" at different levels make it more gothic, almost Victorian.

This piece has been hanging out in my nonsmoking, pet-loving home and is ready to make the journey to the other side ... of the door, at least.
