30s/40s Graduated Crystal Bead Necklace Of 16.5 Inches
A gorgeous crystal necklace of the kind well-loved in the 1920s and 1930s. They are having a resurgence in appreciation these days, and this one is a beauty, with graduated beads in a choker length, strung on a string (as opposed to a silver or gold wire, as is sometimes seen).
Note that not all crystal in jewelry is actually rock crystal (quartz); much of it is glass with a high lead content. One way to tell the difference is to look under magnification. Rock crystal will show some natural striations, whereas leaded glass will remain clear. Glass can, of course, show wear and scratches on the surface.
