Victorian Early 19th Century Pre-civil War Quilt

Victorian Early 19th Century Pre-civil War Quilt

Gorgeous handmade quilt from the 1850s which was documented and dated by The North Carolina Quilt Project in 1986/86. (you can find information about the North Carolina Quilt Project on-line. Search for the number on the label - AB135, and you will see a picture of this quilt). This is the Noxall pattern. It has thin cotton batting. The condition is very good for the age of the quilt. There are, however, small tears especially on one side near the edge, and some staining. The overall effect is very striking! The colors are very bright. It would have been considered a summer quilt, as it has very light weight batting. It measures 88" x 86" and is shown on a full size bed.
