Rare 60s Ivory Nehru Jacket Original Mint Condition 40 L Wedding Mod by McGregor
My uncle used to sell men's clothing to retailers, in Tampa, during the 50's and 60's. When I told him I was dabbling in vintage clothing, he asked me if I ever came across any Nehru jackets. he told me he had the hardest time convincing outlets that these would sell. This ivory McGregor jacket is probably one of those that salesmen like him could never unload, because I don't think it was ever worn! I have been hoarding it for 30 years, like many items in my collection, that I find it hard to part with. maybe now is the right time. This would be a great wedding or formal jacket.
The lighting was uneven when I shot these, so ignore any color variation in the photos.
There are two invisible side pockets, and one inside pocket with a union label, and another McGregor label that reads 40L and 1146R. The jacket is FULLY lined in bright red satin. A cord loop at the inside neck base for hanging, is also red. No cleaning labels...too early for that.
Great item for TV, Screen, Stage, etc. Handsomely tailored with long side vents. Each cuff has 2 matching plastic pearl buttons. Feels like cotton, but could have some linen mixed in, as it has a sturdy feel to the fabric. Weight of material is medium.
