80s/90s Quirky Oversized Black Cashmere Coat By Kenzo Collection Dèfilè
Quirky black cashmere overcoat from Kenzo's dèfilè Collection has me speechless, as I'm having a hard time describing it. The basics first: It has a wide Peter Pan collar, big 3/4 length dolman sleeves that are gathered near the ends and trimmed with twill sleeve belts, large black plastic buttons with big white stitches that look like leather and close with twill tabs, two big slash pockets that are trimmed in black twill, and an asymmetrical hemline that is slightly longer in back than in front, and much longer on the sides. The inside of the coat also holds some surprises with areas of black brocade and a brilliant black lining bursting with turquoise dots. The fabric label is faint, but I can read that the shell is 100% cashmere. There are several different secondary fabrics - mostly on the interior - that are various synthetic blends that are too faint to read. The coat is labeled French size 36, which is most closely equivalent to a US size 4. However, this coat is massively oversized and would swallow a size 4 person whole. I tried it on to get a sense of the true size, and by my estimation, it would fit a size 4 (that's what the tag says) to a size XXL with ease. Please refer to the measurements for the best guidance regarding individual fit.*
