60s Red Straw Boater Red Hat Hat Band Navy and Red Needs Small
A fine, sturdy red straw hat that just needs some attention. I steamed the top flat, as a boater should be, but the sides of the crown need to be flat and straight .....now they slightly bulge...so more steaming is needed. Also, the hat band needs removing, pressing, and to be reattached. I think the red part was glued to the base, because it has come loose, and rides up the crown in places, hiding the navy blue part, that should be seen all the way around. Those two fixes should restore this to its original grandeur! The construction makes me think 60s?. No label. hat measures 12. 5" across, crown is 2. 75" high, and inside measurement is 21" . Fun for stage, a Boy George contest, or any time you want to keep the sun off your eyes. A wire in the brim keeps this hat nice and shapely. easy to add ties or elastic for security. Enjoy!
