A white label that lies under the brim, states that the size is 7 1/4, and the original price was $68. 00. If this is indeed from the 1960's, according to the on-line value calulator that adjusts for inflation, this hat was sold for $678. 00 in today's currency! That's an expensive hat!
There is a gold emblem stamped on the inside of the brim which shows an old European style crest design, but the only letters that are still descernable are the last letters ..."llati". So if anyone knows a hatmaker that could be associated with those letters, I would love to know.
Inside head band shows minimum wear, but no moth nibbles or holes, or any other flaws. Photos have been slightly lightened to show details, and this is a deep black hat, not dark gray.
