50s Copper Pendant Theatrical Masks Modernist By Rebajes

Frank Rebajes piece of wearable art. Signed, handmade in copper from his masks series. Large statement pendant / necklace. Unisex. Approximately 2” diameter. Francisco Rebajes arrived in NYC from the Dominican Republic as a teenager and started making sculptural art and jewelry out of a friend’s basement. By the mid 1930’s his work was exhibited at the Metropolitan Museum of Art & the Brooklyn Museum. By the mid 1940’s he had a shop in Manhattan. Rebajes’s atelier grew to include 100 artisans yet, he continued to design and create prototypes for all the works himself. This pendant is likely from the 1950’s. Fabulous, vintage Rebajes, copper pendant featuring two intriguing faces side by side. Good vintage condition with minimal age related surface wear. Very theatrical! 🎭
