10s/Edwardian 10s Edwardian Navy Blue Silk Walking Day Dress
An all original rare piece of history in stunning condition, ready to be worn and appreciated again. This two piece bodice and skirt set looks like it came straight out of the movies! The silk has a beautiful lustrous shine that is incredibly hard to find. The fabric covered buttons are securely attached and beautifully adorn the garment with intentional strategic placement. The high collar is delicately decorated with Edwardian, possibly Victorian, tatted handmade lace. The heavy pleats in the front center create the iconic pigeon breast silhouette and is structured with boning. The sleeves end in delicate structured triangles that rest on the hand. The bodice fastens with its original over 20 hook and eye closures, the same method of fastener is used with the skirt as well. The skirt itself has heavyweight hooks that attach to the inner bodice in the back to keep the pieces from shifting and help center the weight of the gown. There is plenty of space under the skirt to wear traditional garments to enhance the skirt's fullness in desired areas. The skirt has deep heavy pleats galore. Pictures do not do it justice!
